How E-Spark and Other Partners helped Freedom Brands to establish and grow their business

A refreshing tale of expansion

Freedom Brands has grown exponentially since its inception back in 2011 and recently were the winners of “BEST PERFORMING SMALL BUSINESS IN GLASGOW 2014”.

 

With initial assistance from Business Gateway and Glasgow Chambers of Commerce, Freedom Brands then became part of the Entrepreneurial Spark community in 2013 building the GoCoCo brand across the UK into overseas territories to where they now are, distributing in 22 countries worldwide. 

 

Says Tracey Hogarth, Operations Director of the company:

“The initial driver for expansion was in being placed on the Business Gateway High Growth Pipeline which helped us gain access to funding streams e.g. international export consultancy, marketing assistance to drive our business forward. The pivotal aspect of our business success however has come as a result of being 'account managed' by Scottish Enterprise. This has allowed us greater access to higher levels of funding and assistance not available on the high growth pipeline and has enabled us to facilitate attendance at important Trade events not only here in the UK but overseas. We have attended shows in Dubai, Hong Kong, Cologne and Paris over the past 18 months and this has had a direct impact on increasing our sales in overseas territories whilst allowing us to compete at the highest level, build our brand name in the market and make us a strong market competitor. All of this activity has been supported by Scottish Development International and partners.

 

“With sales of GoCoCo increasing our venture has expanded further into Nudie Snacks. Nudie Snacks are a brand of natural coconut chips. The marketing of Nudie is extremely important and we received assistance from Scottish Enterprise to help us dovetail our new product into the success that the GoCoCo brand is currently having.
