Leith's trendy new (old) place to do business and innovate
Creative Exchange is housed within an architecturally stunning and award winning grade B listed building (Leith Corn Exchange). The design provides over 8,300 sq ft of open plan office on three levels accommodating up to 80 individuals. The premises also offer gallery/exhibition space, meeting rooms and break-out “ideation” areas. Members benefit from access to ultrafast fibre optic broadband as well as telephone and multi-function printing/scanning etc. Furthermore, by the summer of 2014 members will have access to some of the world’s leading digital technology when full colour 3D printing, digital editing and HD immersive video conferencing facilities will be added to the offer. With the success we (City of Edinburgh Council) are expanding the centre into the adjacent building.
Alongside the excellent facilities, businesses and individuals using the Exchange can access free business support advice to help them start and grow their businesses. This ranges from 1-2-1 advice through to networking events and business growth workshops. It is also host to Scotland’s first digital media accelerator programme.
Creative Exchange provides the administrative base for Creative Edinburgh as well as hosting some of their regular events. Creative Edinburgh is a network of over 1050 creative practitioners which aims to support and promote the creative industries sector in Edinburgh. Access to this network is invaluable to the members of the Creative Exchange.
“The impact on the business since moving to the Creative Exchange has been phenomenal. The inspirational space has the level of flexibility that we require to do our work: You can often find us in one of the collaboration areas having a quick brainstorm or design critique session. However it is the opportunity for collaboration that has been the biggest change to our business. Due to the diverse skill set in the building there have been plenty of opportunities to get great advice or help from experts or collaborate on projects. We have worked with a variety of the members on our Clients’ projects and have employed some to help us grow our business. That, together with the in-house business support available from Business Gateway and Edinburgh College, makes this a wonderful platform for the growth of our business.”
