Since 2012, The Royal Bank of Scotland has supported Entrepreneurial Spark and their mission to create a ‘Start-up renaissance’ in Scotland. In addition to financial sponsorship, an extensive programme of support is given to the entrepreneurs which includes providing facilities, guidance and expertise from our talented pool of people across a number of disciplines. Building on the success of the partnership in Scotland, RBS & Entrepreneurial Spark are opening 8 new accelerator hubs across the next two years across the UK.
2014 seen the Inaugural “Opportunity Knocks” event hosted at Gogarburn, RBS HQ in collaboration with Entrepreneurial Spark, Harper Macleod, Angels Den and Johnston Carmichael. The event brought together investors, SMEs, funders and advisors together for a day as entrepreneurs pitched their business ideas to a live audience. The event gave businesses the opportunity to exhibit their products and services, take part in speed mentoring sessions and learn about alternative finance & investment in educational seminars.
The Royal Bank has supported the Scottish EDGE fund since inception.To the end of September 2014 the invested from the Scottish EDGE fund has generated 207 jobs, £8.4m turnover and £4.25m investment. Since 2012, RBS Inspiring Enterprise has provided £3 million in grant funding to 107 organisations which encourage and support young people and women to explore enterprise across the UK
