TEF Scotland is a new social enterprise, bringing Scotland’s business and schools together to inspire the next generation of entrepreneur.
To do this they have set a series of business challenges across 3 key sectors.
Each sector has been given its own specific challenge, which we’re calling our Missions…
Food & Drink “Develop a healthy, nutritious product using a key Scottish ingredient”
Travel & Tourism “Create a unique, personal and memorable record of the customer’s experience that they can share with friends“
Sport & Leisure “Create new ways of playing traditional sports”
Businesses across Scotland are being asked to create innovative new products, services and events based on these Missions, generating income for TEF Scotland.
As part of this, they are asked to work with a local school throughout the various stages of this process:
- Ideation…coming up with an innovative new proposition
- Develop…actually producing the product, service or event
- Deliver…taking the proposition to market, in other words selling it to generate income for TEF Scotland
At the end of the pilot period the proceeds will be distributed by TEF Scotland to their partners – the organisations that deliver enterprise and entrepreneurship to schools, such as Young Enterprise Scotland, Social Enterprise Academy, CETs and Curriculo Solutions.
The schools taking part alongside the businesses can also benefit financially – they’ll receive a grant from TEF Scotland of 25% of the proceeds from their project.
Additionally, pupils will gain invaluable experience of working alongside local businesses. Not just in basic, everyday tasks – but in innovative, exciting projects with real results, and using innovate business techniques such as agile methodology.
