TuringFest blog: Can Do Innovation Challenge Fund

Terry Hogg, Scottish Enterprise’s Can Do Innovation Challenge Fund Manager will be at TuringFest on Wednesday 1 and Thursday 2 August to engage with innovative companies about the Fund:

We support public sector organisations to understand their challenge and help them find a customised solution which will improve service quality and reduced delivery costs. We decrease the risk for public sector by providing an established phased and competitive procurement process to identify innovative businesses and offer up to 100% funding to contract with solvers to develop novel solutions to their challenges.

If you are an innovative company you can win up to £150,000 contracts and get access to that crucial 1st customer. You will be given the opportunity to test and develop solution that address challenges faced by the Scottish public sector. Up to 100% funding for R&D costs is available and the best thing is you get to keep and retain the right to exploit any IP developed. You can use this contract as a stepping stone to wider, potentially international, market exploitation.

Five public sector organisations have already awarded 20 contracts, to a value of £560K, to address challenges in electric vehicle charging, water treatment, digital healthcare, surgical cleaning of instruments and provision of CCTV.

We have another eight challenges from the second call requiring solutions and £900K worth of funding available. The remaining challenges will be launched between August and December this year. We are also currently evaluating challenges submitted to the third call and these will be launched between January and March 2019.

We are really looking forward to being at TuringFestl to have the opportunity to engage with you. Come visit us at our stand to find out how you can be kept up to date on future calls and the challenges being launched.
